evenings with the boys, and girl.

every night i get the priveledge of reading through the Bible with my kiddos. We have read through Matthew, Genesis and now most of John. We read portions of a chapter every night, and talk briefly about it… our discussions are really more of me talking, with jj asking a question or two, and me trying to get joel’s head out from under his pillow so he’ll pay attention.

it’s deeply philosophical, as i’m sure you can guess. but i love getting to do it. and on the nights when i’m feeling lazy, you can bet jermiah will hold my feet to the fire with something like, “dad, what’s more important?” and if it hasn’t happened to you yet, getting called to the carpet by your kids will always lay a nice, thick layer of conviction down. it didn’t happen tonight, but it wasn’t too terribly long ago.

so every night, like tonight, we have our “Bible time” together. and i hope that our nightly meeting times will help build a strong foundation about what really matters in life, and establishes a life long persuit of the Truth in Scripture.

if you have kids, and aren’t already doing this, let me encourage you by saying that it is well worth the time…

and you may just raise a kid that makes their sunday school teacher do their prep work 🙂
