praise & personal context

all creation points to You, Father

so often, people live in pride for so long that they assume that’s just the way things are supposed to be. But, Father, You are the only One who is unchanging. You are the only One who has their natural place in glory. Your position as ruler of all is not hollow. You are not just an idea to be maintained. You are power. You are glory. You are in charge, because literally everything is Yours. from the air in my lungs, to the gasses that swirl in distant suns. from the drop of water in the lowest part of the ocean, to the highest flying bird. everything belongs to You, and was made by You, and owes its very existence to the fact that Your will is what maintains its very being.

our blindfold of pride

if pride comes before a fall, personal security is the knot in the blindfold we wear. Thinking that we are in control, assuming that we have some sort of power to wield is a big enough lie to show everyone else just how quick we can hit the ground.

and this is being nice

why do we fall under the impression that we are the ones who have secured a pretty position for ourselves? if our best efforts at righteousness are like used and filthy bandages, then our efforts at personal control and power create a doubly disgusting pile.

arrogance. bald faced arrogance is what is left. a hollow core fronted with rusted out metal that still has an appearance of being solid, but one good tap will cause it to collapse. a house of cards has more points of stability than a man who depends on himself.

help me Father. help me rely on You alone each day, in all that i do.
