another journal entry with no date or Scripture reference, it clearly has some reference points, but there are many ‘day of the Lord’ passages. i was definitely feeling a sense of urgency & anticipation when this was written. i am entering it as it is written:

the actions of a people group clearly define who they are as they walk with God. and this is no great mystery. the wrath of God is present daily, but is being stemmed back in anticipation of the great day of judgment that comes either at our death or when the Lord returns. it is not up to us to decide when that happens, but it is rather our part to wait until that day, living and dying in our sin unless we take the time to listen to the voice of God in our lives and freely receive the gift of grace that He is so quick to hand out.
but arrogance, self-centered pride, & feigned intellectualism are driving us so far away from God as we try to rationalize the unknowable God, infinite in majesty, truth, justice & love, into terms and concepts that our fallible & finite minds can comprehend. the ignorant arrogance of our people is astounding and is surely a marker for why judgment is coming, and is indeed on its way.
the great and terrible day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. there will not be a sudden groundswell of anticipation, because no one expects a thief.
we must prepare today, setting aside foolish ambition & selfish thoughts. God’s love does reach to the heavens, but we must embrace it, or be lost to the tide of sin that drags us out, under and drowns us.
God have mercy on us.
Christ have mercy.
Spirit have mercy.
amen.
