yet another unmarked journal entry:

it’s amazing that the end of the road isn’t always obvious to us. we drive off the asphalt, through the grass, getting hung up in ditches and avoiding trees. but in our arrogance, we drive on, insisting that we know where we are going & that this was our plan all along.
who do we think we’re fooling? God isn’t buying it & our friends, family & neighbors stare at us questioning our sanity.
but when we can go no further, when we’ve sunk up to our axles in some mud hole, and there’s no hope of ever getting out, God is still there for us. He’s ready to pull us out, hose us off & make the appropriate repairs. He wants us to see the foolishness of what we’ve done, and to be a safe & reasonable driver from then on…but even if we swerve off the road from time to time, He still has the patience to come and do it all over again.
thank You God for being so generous in Your patience and grace. thank You for Your abounding mercy and Your willingness to set us straight time and time again.help me to keep my eyes on Your road, spotting signs as You post them, so that i can please You with my whole life.
