the black & white cookie

(unmarked journal entry)
the black & white, each side distinct from the other

there are no gray areas with God. either you are trying to face Him on your own, or you are on His side. the former has you competing against Him. the latter has you celebrating with Him & enjoying the benefits of His great grace and mercy. the former has you relying on yourself. the latter shows how you have abandoned self reliance.

it’s a bad place to be, trying to face down God on your own. when the end comes around for you, all your compatriots will be busy trying to cover for themselves. there will be no support from the ‘higher-ups’ of society…it will be every man for himself.

but if we rely on God, and on His Son, Jesus, we will be used by Him with the direction of the Spirit. all of the facets of who God is will be active in your life as you submit yourself to His rule in your life.

there is no need to hope for anything better than what God has in store for us. that does not mean that things will be easy all the time. it doesn’t even mean that we will always have an understanding of what is going on around us…but what we will have is a sure footing and foundation in the midst of those difficult times, and a path in the midst of confusion. God does not leave us groping in the dark. His hand is always extended to us, and through the Holy Spirit, He will guide us if we just extend our hand to His.

there really is no middle of the road when it comes to this. we cannot live our lives for God and for ourselves. we must honor Him at all times by completely giving up control. He has our best interest in mind. He does not have corrupt motives as a man does. He isn’t ‘out to get us’ or setting us up for a fall. if we devote our lives to Him, He is faithful and just, and will cleanse our very souls from every dark spot that stains it, and haunts our minds in the dark hours of the night.

we must choose today whom we will serve. just as joshua laid out the choice to the children of israel all those years ago. either we must serve God faithfully, or serve ourselves and our own false gods. and i want to say with him ‘as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.’

life is choice.

choices have consequences.

choose wisely.
