‘put your hand in the hand of the man who walked on water…’

(unmarked journal entry)

we sell God short with His ability to create change in our lives. (read that again, and slowly.)

we sell Him short when it comes to His level of involvement, too. when we think God’s grace is too small to cover our sins or so wide and open that He doesn’t notice we sinned in the first place, we are doing Him a great dishonor and disservice. God’s grace and justice go hand in hand. He will forgive our sins if we ask with a broken heart. He will keep on loving us as though we never sinned, but there will be consequences required, just as punishment was…this is justice.

there are consequences for every action, great or small, good or bad. something always happens when we take action in any area of life.

don’t sell God short. accept the grace and the justice alike. we cannot get away with desecrating what God has mad holy.if we accept mercy & forgiveness then we need to treat our bodies as holy instruments, not as though they belong to us or to our old way of life.

we cannot ignore justice. as Christians, we often call for it in the lives of others. people who are downtrodden, or persecuted, we ask for justice on their behalf, that God would act and make things right. sometimes, we seek justice for those who have done wrong, as david did in the psalms. but we must leave justice in the hands of God in both cases. even then, we usually do not ask for the meting out of justice in our own lives when it comes to our faults and failings, do we?

do we seek God’s correction in our own lives? probably not. that is a difficult thing to experience, let alone seek out for ourselves.

so, let’s be consistent, shall we? don’t sell God short, or try to keep ourselves from His hand when we deserve it. the consequences that come from our actions can serve many purposes, aside from training our hearts in holiness. we must be prepared and willing to accept them, for good or bad, when they come, seeking God’s guidance daily.
