have you been raised from the dead, or are you still laying on the slab?

(unmarked journal entry – presumably from matthew 9)

what a response!

lives forever changed…the dead brought to life, the blind can see, the mute can speak & evil is driven from the lives of people. even when Jesus tells them not to say anything, they cannot help themselves.

how do we respond to the work of Jesus in our lives? the healed hearts, the changed ways, the motivation for a new life. do we respond with a life of thanks and gratitude? do we give back from what we have received? do we respond in the long run, or even at all?

do we come back from the dead with new eyes and mouth, but sit on our hands and go nowhere? why?

what is going on?

why don’t we march down the streets? why are there people in our lives that we see every day that don’t know about what God has done in our lives? about what Jesus has done for us?

how dare we stay silent! how awful  and disrespectful of us to keep our mouths closed and our lives free of thankful service! do we just cry “Lord, Lord” and then go on our way? are we even forgiven or just deluding ourselves? [play acting because it feels good]

rise up church!

seriously. if there is no activity of God that takes place in your day to day life, if it’s not obvious to everyone around you that you serve Jesus Christ, then what are you doing? do you look different from the world around you? have you let go of your past life of sin, or do you still cling to it’s filthy edges, unwilling to give yourself over to Jesus’ call as He gave Himself up for you?

it’s a yes or no answer. are you living the life, spreading the Word, or are you keeping your yap shut so you don’t rock the boat for anyone? what’s more important, you being comfortable or another child of God finding their way home? what’s going to help you sleep tonight, knowing you did your best for God and the expansion of His Kingdom or feeling like you accomplished what you wanted to get done.

here it is:

have you been raised from the dead, or are you still laying on the slab?
