(unmarked journal entry – possibly matthew 11)
what does the life of freedom really look like? do we possess the courage to live it? i think we talk about the freedom we have in Christ, but we’re too scared to live it out.
we have found comfort in our slavery and contentedness in our chains.
change would mean having to step out and following God directly…and that’s what’s frightening.
we’re like the israelites in egypt…slaves for so long, stuck in a system of man-made expectations that keep us from seeing what freedom really is. we own the freedom, it has been given to us, but we keep our shackles on.
we sit in the dark, chained up, when the door is open and the keys sit in our laps.
rise up church! rise up!
where do you think you are? who do you think you are supposed to be? a bunch of once-a-week singers & studiers? a group that studies and talks but never moves?
rise up church!
it’s not enough to sing and clap and pray when it’s easy.
it’s not enough to put on a good face to things…
you are free!
but you still sit as slaves!
rise up church!
embrace the calling on your life! run free!
