Mark 5:24-28 // Just get to Jesus

“24 So Jesus went with him, and a large crowd was following and pressing against Him. 25 A woman suffering from bleeding for 12 years 26 had endured much under many doctors. She had spent everything she had and was not helped at all. On the contrary, she became worse. 27 Having heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His robe. 28 For she said, ‘If I can just touch His robes, I’ll be made well!'”
Mark 5:24-28

Her thought says everything that needs to be said about her faith. Such a simple sentence, but such truth is contained in it. All the power, in her mind, comes from Jesus. Everything she needs is in Jesus. And she is right. Her faith in Him is so strong that she doesn’t even need Him to acknowledge her, a simple point of physical contact is all that is required.

And it works. Faith moves her and her faith in Christ facilitates her healing. She had had her fill of human intervention and she had no faith in medicine anymore. But Jesus held all the answers. It wasn’t magic or some mystical pagan experience that healed her, but faith in the power of Jesus Christ.

If we want to see change in our own lives, then we have to let go of our own abilities and let faith lead us. We must seek out God’s wisdom, God’s authority and trust in Him to do what needs to be done. Faith is active, it moves us, but it also trusts in Another over self. We cannot come to Him expecting our own power to do the work, and that God will just fill in the gaps, a blanket endorsement of our desires and plans. No. When we come to God, our plans are set aside in favor of the Him who has that power and authority to do what needs to be done. He is sovereign over us.

As we GoLove people, sharing the Gospel daily, we must trust wholly in Him to do what needs to be done in us. We must desire wholeness, we must desire the change and we must put forth an effort, but we must have faith in Him to carry us through in the way that honors and glorifies God. His will, His plan, His glory.
