Psalm 83:13-18 // Desiring God’s glory in justice

“13 Make them like tumbleweed, my God,
like straw before the wind.
14 As fire burns a forest,
as a flame blazes through mountains,
15 so pursue them with Your tempest
and terrify them with Your storm.
16 Cover their faces with shame
so that they will seek Your name Yahweh.
17 Let them be put to shame and terrified forever;
let them perish in disgrace.
18 May they know that You alone —
whose name is Yahweh —
are the Most High over all the earth.”
Psalm 83:13-18

No matter the adversity, we must remember that God will see justice done and He will be glorified. Everyone who has had the breath of life in them will one day confess the truth of God’s sovereignty and will acknowledge the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Find comfort in that.

It is not up to us to force that confession or to coerce justice. God is faithful and will see His will done. We are simply called to GoLove in His Name so that we can introduce people to His Son and His grace. Our desire should be to see even the most wicked come to Him in humility and repentance before they die and face judgment.

We must seek God’s glory and speak about His grace. And we must also trust that He will see things through in His way and in His timing. Wisdom is needed to determine where He desires to use us and where He will move on His own, so be in prayer and the Word.
