“33 Teach me, Lord, the meaning of Your statutes,
and I will always keep them.
34 Help me understand Your instruction,
and I will obey it
and follow it with all my heart.
35 Help me stay on the path of Your commands,
for I take pleasure in it.
36 Turn my heart to Your decrees
and not to material gain.
37 Turn my eyes
from looking at what is worthless;
give me life in Your ways.
38 Confirm what You said to Your servant,
for it produces reverence for You.
39 Turn away the disgrace I dread;
indeed, Your judgments are good.
40 How I long for Your precepts!
Give me life through Your righteousness.”
Psalm 119:33-40

A properly humble spirit never evaluates just how humble it is. Rating & ranking humility is a sign of a lack of humility. Instead, the heart and mind that simply acknowledges the constant need for God’s leadership, guidance and instruction, is the heart and mind that has discvoered that humility is not something to measure, but a state of being. David is relying fully on God here: “Teach me…,” “Help me…,” “Turn my…,” He asks Him to do works within him, “Confirm, produce, Turn away, judge” and finally “Give me life…”
Read through the portion of Psalm 119 again, a little more slowly, listening to David’s heart.
Read through it a third time, piece by piece, examining your dependance on God.
Read through it a fourth and final time & make it your prayer.
