More time on my knees

“When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.

And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.”‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭3:14-21‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Your love, O Lord, reaches to the heavens. Your faithfulness extends to the sky. Thank You for bringing the richness of Your deep love into our impoverished hearts, bless Your holy Name!

When we think about the blessing that the Lord brings to His people, we must also remind ourselves that we have done absolutely nothing to deserve that rich provision and deep care. But when we are encountered by God in this way, we are also reminded that He operates in grace, that as He is rich in provision, He is also rich in mercy, and it is in that wealth of love that we find His provision pour out.

TV preachers & Word of Faith gurus will tell us (through heresy) to ‘name it and claim it’ for ourselves, as if we can dictate and call out blessing upon ourselves in the way that we desire (especially when that desire comes from pride, sin and our brokenness. But when we cry out to God, fully acknowledging our need, and seeking Him out through His will, we will find our hearts in a very different place.

There is no comfort to be found in accumulating things in this world. If that was the case, then hoarders would be the happiest people around, and they would be known for their great joy. As we know, though, that is quite different from reality. God’s joy at work in us (serving others to bring Him glory,) living worship on the daily, placing His will above our own short-lived desires, will always land us in a place of greater contentment and within an abiding joy.

Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.

Earthly security will not empower us, it will not keep us strong. People who build fortresses around themselves, boasting in their strength, are often the least secure.

True security comes from outside of our own ability, it comes from beyond our own capability to take care of ourselves. When you were a child, where did you find comfort? Where did you find peace? Likely in the arms of a parent, grandparent or loved one. It wasn’t something you manufactured, but something that was gifted to you.

And so it is with God.

We find our comfort, security, peace and joy in this life from Him. And if we want to experience this more deeply every day, then we must go to Him on our knees, and let Him wrap us up in His arms of love.

“And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.” Eph 3

“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.” ‭Numbers‬ ‭6:24-26‬ ‭ESV‬‬
