“Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.”
1 Corinthians 15:58 ESV
Whether at church, home, school, office or in the public marketplace, we have this one, steady purpose: do the work of The Lord. It is our top priority, our main purpose and the goal of our life’s work. Serve Him. Share Him. Preach Him. Teach Him. Speak of Him. Sing for Him. Work for Him. Breathe for Him. Sweat for Him. Push for Him. Love for Him. Die for Him.
God is our all-in-all. He is our strength and shield and all our trust is in Him.
Because of the confidence we have in Him, we do not budge, we do not compromise, we do not waiver in this purpose.
Because of the love He has shown us, we do not live for today or anything temporary, instead we live for those things that are most significant, namely our eternal calling and purpose to serve and worship Him. His glory is our heart’s work. He is our labor of love. We do not give that up for anything. We do not trade in the eternal for those things that distract or that will one day be dust. We give our lives gladly knowing that our immovable purpose, based in His steadfast love, will guide and guard us every day until there are no more days to count.
This world is fading. These bodies are short lived. We are just a vapor, and so we must be wise stewards of the time we do have. Not one of us is guaranteed tomorrow or to finish out today. Each moment is a gift and needs to be used accordingly and for His good purpose.
Don’t squander today. Don’t waste an opportunity to serve. Do let a moment slip by where you can GoLove another person in His Name with His love by sharing the gospel with them. Show them love. Tell them your story in Christ. Live in the community of faith to be an encouragement and to be encouraged.
Stand firm. Own the purpose you’ve been called to and know that Christ’s Lordship, lived our in you, is what others need to see so badly.
