A Prayer for Strength // Ephesians 3

“For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory He may grant you to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”

Ephesians 3:14-21 ESV

And some days are tough. Some days seem to run smoothly but end on a sour note. Some days start poorly, get worse and then we just seem to exist until its finally time to go to sleep again and hope that the next day will somehow, in some way be better.

Somedays are awesome. Some days seem plastered with hope and a freshness that just almost doesn’t seem real. Some days, a few here and there, go so well that we almost can’t believe they happened to us. The days where we laugh and do things that are unexpected and live outside of ourselves. Days where we see God at work in us or through us, and our appreciation for His grace couldn’t be deeper. Days where we could have struggled, and He pulled us through and we just revel in Him.

And then there are the days in between. Not bad days, but not great days either. Nothing momentous seems to happen, and it’s okay, because it’s just another day. We don’t expect much, and not much happens…like a Tuesday.

And for all those days from good to bad and inbetween, we should come to God and seek His strength. On days where hope seems short, we need to come first to Him. On days where hope seems abundant, we still need to come to Him. And those days where hope would be nice, but we’ll probably be fine just cruising along, we still should come to God first and foremost, and seek Him out.

His strength holds us up.
His will holds the bonds of our existence together.
His life is what has given us ours.
His provision is what sustains us.
His grace is what brings us peace.
His love is what fills our hearts with joy.

And so thankfully, expectantly, we come to Him, seeking Him out every day.
He is our Author and our Perfector, and we rely rightfully on Him. We live under His authority, whether we recognize it or not, and we will answer to Him one day. And if our hope has been in Christ, and if our lives were lost in Him, and if our hearts have been joined with His in baptism, if we have been recipients of His great grace, then His sustaining will continue eternally, and we will have no more need for hope since the reality of our existence will be lived out in His glory.

Praise God in the good, the bad and the in-between & GoLove others by sharing that hope you have found in Him.
